Mess It Up With Megan: Burning Candles in Water

This weeks Mess It Up With Megan entails a different way to burn candles.

Normally, candles burn at the same right all the way down the wick. We used water in order to pull away some of the heat energy from the burning candle to leave the edge, well most of it, in tact.

For this experiment you will need cold water, candles, a bowl, and a lighter. Also, I should mention that this is a time consuming experiment.

First step is to fasten the candle to bottom of the bowl using wax from another candle. This ensures that the candle, hopefully, will stay upright after we pour the water in the bowl. Next, you will need to full the bowl with water just under the wick. Now, just sit back and relax and watch the science happen.
