GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – With cooler finally arriving in the East, it won’t be long until we see the first frost of the season, bringing an end to the growing season. Some spots inland already saw a patchy frost Friday morning. Another frost looks likely away from the coast Monday morning behind a cold front which will come through this weekend.
In Greenville, the average first frost is about November 1. It takes a little longer for the first frost to come to the coast. Usually, it is not seen until after November 15. Northwest of Greenville, late October is right on schedule for the first frost.
Remember, bring any plants you have outside in or cover them with a sheet when there is a threat for a frost if you want your plants to survive for a few more weeks.
