EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in political science, Oberlin College, 1992; Juris Doctor, University of Maryland, 1995.
EXPERIENCE: The daughter of a popular state delegate and a pediatrician, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake worked as a public defender and was the youngest person elected to the City Council at age 25 in 1995. She became council president in 2007 and then mayor in 2010 when Sheila Dixon resigned amid scandal. She was elected to the post in 2011.
