Austin Dillon gets new crew chief as RCR reorganizes staff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Austin Dillon will have a new crew chief when NASCAR returns to action next weekend.

Slugger Labbe was named crew chief Monday for Dillon as part of organizational changes at Richard Childress Racing. Gil Martin, who had been with Dillon since last season, was moved to RCR’s research and development department.

Dillon is a two-time Xfinity Series champion but has just five top-10 finishes since moving to the Sprint Cup Series last year. He’s currently 23rd in the standings as NASCAR heads into a rare off weekend.

Labbe has won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 as a crew chief. He moved into an R&D role this year.

Martin will take over Labbe’s R&D responsibilities.
