JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Jacksonville Police have arrested a teen in connection to a shooting near the Jacksonville Mall Tuesday afternoon.
Octavious Bryant, 18, of Jacksonville has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
He was given a $575,000 bond.
Police responded around 2:04 p.m. to the report of a shooting in the 500 block of Myrtlewood Circle
The Myrtle Wood neighborhood is off Country Club Road across from the Jacksonville Mall.
Two people were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
Neighbors said they saw one of the victims bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest.
They said the man was able to talk to them and even call his mother as they applied pressure and waited for an ambulance.
“He was shaky,” said Rickey Zickafoose, a neighbor. “But he was talkative to me a little bit. I was just trying to keep him calm and make sure he was alright.”
The victim Zickafoose helped was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital for treatment, while the other declined medical transport.
