Kinston community leads prayer walk

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Prayer was spread throughout the streets of Kinston Saturday as local church members walked through neighborhoods spreading their message.

They started their walk along East Washington Avenue. One of their goals — to pray for an end to violence. This is the People of God outreach ministry’s third annual walk.

Minister Warren Kearney organizes it and keeps it going.

“Our goal is to, as we’re walking along maybe we’re hoping and praying that someone along the side will come join in with us or they might want prayer, might want to be delivered or salvation to come to know Jesus,” Kearney said.

Each church member carried a poster, with a message discouraging violence. They are hopeful the community will jump on board and help to spread awareness.
