Former Kinston lawmaker Stephen Laroque released from prison

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Former state Rep. Stephen Laroque is now out of federal prison.

Laroque pleaded guilty to directing $300,000 in federal tax dollars to friends and family.

He turned himself in August 2015, to serve a two-year sentence.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons shows Laroque was released Friday.
