Greenville bank robbery suspect in custody

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Greenville Police arrested the man they say robbed a First Citizens Bank earlier this week.

On Saturday afternoon, 41-year-old David Earl Gay of Winterville was taken into custody. An anonymous caller contacted the Greenville Police Department about Gay, after seeing surveillance video of the bank robbery on the news. A 1999 GMC Jimmy, which matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle, was parked in Gay’s driveway.

Gay is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was also served with multiple warrants out of Virginia with extradition.

Gay remains at the Pitt County Detention Center.
