GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Several agencies and organizations have joined forces to spread Christmas cheer with their annual toy drive.
Greenville Fire and Rescue continued the Operation Santa Claus it began years ago and has since expanded to include other agencies.
They toys collected are given to children in Pitt County.
Area families applied to the Salvation Army to receive gifts. Then if need is determined, those families can stop by to pick up their child-specific toys the week of Christmas.
Many officials were overwhelmed by the amount of support from the community.
“It says that we still have people that care especially in the community for them to go out of their way and to buy all of these toys,” said Ruffin Keys, Greenville Fire Rescue.
All the agencies are working together to round up the collected toys from locations throughout the county.
