Police chief: Autopsy confirms Farmville man shot to death

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- An autopsy has revealed a Farmville man found dead Thursday was shot to death, Farmville police said.

Police chief Donnie Greene said they are following up on leads, and they have good information.

45-year-old Melvin Waller of Farmville was found barely breathing between Anderson Avenue and Bakers Boulevard, Greene said.

Rescue was dispatched and performed CPR. The man died at the scene, officers said.

Officers found the man when responding to a shots-fired call in the Farmville Housing Authority, a few streets from where the victim was found.

Greene said it is not yet clear whether the man’s death is connected to the shots fired call.

It’s unclear right now how he died.

The autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
