Local law enforcement brings holiday cheer to Ayden nursing home

AYDEN, N.C. (WNCT) – Dozens of senior citizens at the Ayden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center received a special Christmas visit Tuesday.

Pitt County Sheriff Neil Elks and members of the Ayden Police Department stopped by and brought blankets, hats and teddy bears to the residents.

Many told the sheriff the visit made them feel loved remembered during the holiday season.

The visit “cheers them up,” said Fred Blaybomb, a resident at the center. “Because a lot of them have been here a long time, so it’s nice.”

“We want to show them we care, and we love them, and we want them to have a merry Christmas,” said Elks.

Two mini horses from the Rocking Horse Ranch surprised the residents and made them feel extra special.

Each year, Elks visits a senior facility in the county to spread Christmas cheer to the residents.
