Belhaven mayor heads to Raleigh to protest Pungo Hospital closing

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – Belhaven Mayor Adam O’Neal is taking his complaints over the fight for Pungo Hospital back to the state capital in hopes of bringing attention to Vidant Health and Pantego Creek LLC’s closing of the hospital.

O’Neal said he will walk in front of the governor’s mansion every day this week, and he said he wants Gov. Pat McCrory and state lawmakers to get involved.

“He is able to, with his political influence, give us some help,” O’Neal said. “They also have a special session coming up on the 13th of December where the whole legislature can stand up for Belhaven.”
