1 arrested in fatal hotel shooting near Raleigh mall

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — One person has been arrested in a fatal shooting near Crabtree Valley Mall.

Local media outlets report police arrested 28-year-old Seaga Edward Gillard on Saturday in connection with the deaths at America’s Best Value Inn.

On Friday, officers responding to gunshots at about 5 a.m. Friday found two bodies at the hotel. They’ve been identified as 22-year-old April Lynn Holland and 28-year-old Dwayne Garvey.

Gillard has been charged with one count of murder. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

In August, a loud noise caused mass panic at the Raleigh mall. Eight people were injured in the rush to escape reported gunshots. But police found no evidence of any gunfire.
