WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Two men arrested in the double homicide of a Martin County mother and daughter made their first court appearance Monday morning.
Twenty-five-year-old Jeffrey Ward of Williamston is charged with two counts of murder. Ward is being held without bond. Twenty-four-year-old Jerrett Ward of Williamston is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact. He is being held under a $1,000,000 bond.
In their court appearance Monday, the Ward brothers were appointed public defenders. Their next court appearance is set for December 14.
Investigators arrested the pair Saturday afternoon.
It was Thursday that the bodies of 40-year-old Dawn Elizabeth Ward and her 14-year-old daughter Taylor Carroll were found inside a well with 30 feet of water in it behind a residence on McCaskey Road in Williamston. Williamston Fire Rescue helped recover the bodies, which took hours to remove, deputies said.
