Wildfires spare some North Carolina Christmas tree farms

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – As wildfires rage on in portions of North Carolina and Tennessee, other areas are getting some much needed relief.

Thanks to some rain Monday night, some areas in the mountains have new life.

A few weeks ago, Larry Cuthbertson with Mountain Boy Trees said wildfires were threatening their Christmas tree crop. On Tuesday, he said the wildfires nearby had become less of a threat.

Had the fires gotten to his farm, his Christmas tree crop for the next 12 to 15 years could have been destroyed.

Cuthbertson has been coming to Greenville to sell those trees for the past four decades.
