Operation Homefront gifts “forever home” to injured veteran in Hubert

HUBERT, N.C. (WNCT) – A veteran injured while serving in the Marine Corps now has a home free of charge.

Sergeant Ritchel Lawson injured his back serving in the military, and neither Lawson nor his wife and children have had a home to call their own since Lawson was medically discharged in 2010.

On Tuesday, Operation Homefront gave the family the keys to their forever home in Hubert, mortgage free.

“We’re going to grow old in the house,” said Lawson “Our kids are going to go to prom and homecoming dances, come home with science projects stuff like that; memories that are going to last forever in this house.”

The three-bedroom home also sits on a large lot.

Lawson said he is happy his children will now have a yard to play in.
