One dead, one rescued after boat capsizes in Beaufort Inlet

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) – One person died and another was rescued after a boat capsized in the Beaufort Inlet by Fort Macon Creek around 10 a.m. Monday, according to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

Wildlife Resources Officer Tyler Ingle, who investigated the incident, said a recreational boat capsized with two people on board.

Thomas Winfred Bogey, 77, of Knightdale, drowned, while Larry Kent Sanders, 66, of Spring Hope, was  rescued by a good Samaritan with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard and Sea Tow, according to Ingle.

Sanders did not have any injuries, Ingle said.
