Pitt County magistrate charged with DWI

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – 9OYS has learned a Pitt County magistrate was arrested and charged with a DWI Sunday evening.

Robert Allen Smith, 61, of Farmville, faces a charge of driving while impaired. The incident occurred on May Boulevard near Belcher street in Farmville, according to police reports.

Smith has resigned from his position.

Officers said a breath test revealed Smith had an AC of .12.

Smith will appear in Pitt County Court January 5.
