Kinston police investigate Sunday shooting

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Kinston police said a man was shot while sitting in a car near Old Snow Hill Road and Marcella Drive early Sunday morning.

Officers said Dyrell Farrior, 27, had a gunshot wound in his left shoulder and Kenneth Graham, 60, who was in the car with him, had a cut on his leg due to broken glass.

Farrior was transported to Vidant Medical Center for treatment, and he has since been released, officers said. Graham was treated at the scene and released.

Two homes on Marcella Drive and two vehicles on Old Snow Hill Raod were also struck by gunfire.

Neighbor Ella Pugh said she is uneasy.

“When I first moved over here, it was really quiet and nice over here,” said Pugh. “Now it’s getting like the wild, wild west.”

Kinston police are investigating, and they ask anyone with information regarding the shooting to call the Kinston Police Department at 252-939-3160 or Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444.

The Kinston Police Department and community members will be participating in a prayer walk starting at Candlewood Drive and Hawthorne Ave., near where the shooting took place, beginning at 4 p.m. Monday.
