GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- While some people spent their holiday watching football…that’s not the only turkey day tradition being enjoyed.
The Fountain family hunts every Thanksgiving.
“We’ve been doing this for quite a long time, ” Anna Fountain said.
Wyatt Fountain said, “Anything that we can together as a family to keep a close and bonded is what we want to do.”
At the Liang household, it’s a little different. This family is from China, so they put their own spin on holiday essentials.
Lucky Xue cooks all the food. She said, “We cook Chinese food and not American tradition.”
Then there’s the Hamsteads.
“Food friends and family, love that,” Rhonda Hamstead said.
They spend their turkey day just being themselves.
“We just cook, and we hang out, and we eat and then we eat,” Hamstead said.
East Carolina Aquatics hits the water for Turkey Day.
“Well I think this is everyone’s secondary family for sure,” swim coach Casey Charles said.
Three different traditions with the same goal in mind
“One day a year you just stop and pause and appreciate what life’s about,” Rae Fountain said.
They all just have their own ways of doing it.
