Pitt Community College to develop student exchange with Mexican university

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt Community College will receive $25,000 to develop a student exchange partnership with Mexico’s Universidad Veracruzana after being selected the winner of the “100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund” competition.

Partners of the Americas announced PCC as one of eight winners of the contest, which sought proposals for new study abroad programs between the United States and Latin America in the field of environmental science.

According to a press release, PCC’s winning submission, “WATER Scholars: Water Awareness through Environmental Research,” calls for a partnership between the college, Universidad Veracruzana and East Carolina University to make students aware of water conservation’s impact on the environment in the U.S. and Mexico.

The proposal outlines the development of a student exchange program focused on water ecology and service learning.
