Sampson Co. man facing Duplin Co. murder charges

KENANSVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A Sampson County man is facing murder charges in Duplin County.

Sheriff Blake Wallace said Isaiah Smith fatally shot McKinley Beaty Jr. back in 2014. Beaty’s body was found at a restaurant near Warsaw.

Smith was arrested in Cumberland County on Friday. He’s awaiting extradition back to Duplin County.

Deputies said the victim and suspect knew each other.
