Pungo hospital to be demolished

BELHAVEN, N.C. (WNCT) – The former Pungo District Hospital will be demolished.

9 On Your Side confirmed the information Monday evening.

Attorneys said that after consideration the managers of Pantego Creek, LLC have rejected the two offers made on the old Pungo District Hospital. That’s primarily because the property is more valuable than the offered amounts.

As previously approved by Pantego Creek’s membership, the plans for the demolition of the buildings located on the property will continue.  If the property is sold, any proceeds from the sale will be used to further the non-profit mission of Pantego Creek.

WNCT’s Josh Birch is following the story and will have the latest details coming up at 10 and 11 on 9 On Your Side.
