Operation Christmas Child donation week nears end

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Thousands of boxes for Operation Christmas Child will soon leave eastern North Carolina on the way to kids all over the world.

Samaritan’s Purse is collecting boxes filled with toys, school supplies and other items for needy children.

When the boxes leave our area they will be shipped out to children in over 100 countries.

We stopped by a collection site at Greenville Oakmont Baptist church Sunday where they hope to reach a goal of 13,000 boxes.

Members of the church like Joshua Breazeale said this is a good way to show children how to give back.

“They learn from an early age even though they may have a lot of things, there is other kids in the world that don’t, and so it makes that connection for them that they can share with others even from the much that they have,” said Breazeale.

Monday is the last day to drop off donations.
