Future of old Pungo Hospital still uncertain

BELHAVEN, N.C. (WNCT) – The future of the old Pungo Hospital building remains uncertain.

On Friday, Pungo Medical Center offered the owners of the building and property, Pantego Creek LLC, $500,000 for the property. This comes after the LLC voted to have it demolished.

The town has fought to reopen the hospital since Vidant Health closed it in July 2014.

In a statement, Pantego Creek LLC attorney Arey Grady said, “Pantego Creek has received competing offers for the old Pungo District Hospital, one of which is from Pungo Medical Center.  Pantego Creek is currently reviewing the offers and hopes to respond to both offers next week.”
