GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Former ECU Quarterback Shane Carden returned to the East Saturday to host a football camp for kids.
Carden, who excelled while at ECU, said football has helped to shape his life. He wanted to teach kids the importance of having fun but also being good teammates.
He said there is a lot of concerns about football with younger players, but it all comes down to being safe and practicing correctly.
“If I had children I probably would have them play flag first, specifically because that’s how I was raised, and that’s what I went through,” Carden said. “There’s a lot of kids hitting at young ages, and they’ve done a much better job teaching better technique and that needs to happen in this game.”
Carden was signed by the Chicago Bears in 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He currently plays in Montreal as part of the Canadian Football league.
