New Bern Fire-Rescue to use grant for in-car K9 kennel

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Commercial property insurer FM Global has awarded New Bern Fire-Rescue a $2,150 fire prevention grant that will be used to purchase a K9 insert for one of Fire-Rescue’s vehicles.

The insert is an in-car kennel, which will help secure and protect Fire-Rescue K9 Darby. The purchase and installation of the K9 insert will be complete in about a month.

The grant, which was presented Thursday afternoon, is part of the Fire Prevention Grant Program, is awarded to global organizations and fire departments where dollars can have the most demonstrable impact on preventing fire or mitigating the damage it can cause.
