Agencies collect children’s books for hurricane counties

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Several agencies are continuing to collect children’s books to donate to schools and public libraries in the eastern North Carolina counties damaged by Hurricane Matthew.

The N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is collecting the books, in partnership with the North State Journal and Waste Industries. They’ll continue to collect books through Sunday.

New or gently used books may be dropped off at four locations in Raleigh: the state Museum of Art, state Museum of History, the state Museum of Natural Sciences and the State Capitol Historic Site.

The books will be donated to 19 counties.
