KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Artist Bob Rankin visited North Lenoir High School in Kinston where he spoke with students about the importance of art.

An art teacher at the school had connections with the artist, leading to the visit.

Rankin, an educator for more than 30 years, said he hopes students consider pursuing an art degree when they head to college.

“It’s just giving them a different possibility of what can happen with your life if you go into the arts,” Rankin said. “I have been very fortunate, and I made a commitment that I stayed in education I would travel around the world, and I’ve been able to do that.”

He said his goal was to empower students to pursue their dreams, especially in art.
