Troopers: Road open after pickup hit tractor trailer going opposite direction on Hwy. 33

GRIMESLAND, N.C. (WNCT) –  A pickup truck swerved across the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction on Highway 33 early Tuesday morning, a trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The call came in around 5:16 a.m. at the intersection of NC 33 East and Willow Lane in Grimesland, when troopers said a woman swerved across the center line. The tractor trailer driver tried to swerve and avoid the truck but the truck ended up hitting the corner of the tractor trailer.

The road was closed but has since reopened, troopers said.

Troopers said the tractor trailer driver is OK, and the woman driving the pickup truck was transported to Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed yet, but troopers said charges are pending against the woman driving the pickup truck.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Highway Patrol, Simpson Fire Department and Greenville Station 6 all responded.
