‘Sunday Supper’ raises at least $100K for flood relief in NC

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Organizers of the first “Sunday Supper” in downtown Raleigh say the event raised at least $100,000 to help victims of Hurricane Matthew in eastern North Carolina.

About 1,000 people paid $20 a ticket to eat lunch Sunday on Fayetteville Street Mall. Restaurants donated the food, and other restaurants and retailers donated at least 10 percent of Sunday sales to the fund.

At the close of the event Sunday, volunteers tallied funds raised of nearly $100,000. The estimate doesn’t include the proceeds from retail sales, online donations and other funds.
