JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Onslow County Register of Deeds Office has moved from the courthouse to the Onslow County Government Center as construction begins on the Summersill addition.
“They have to put some poles in my office to stabilize before they tear down part of this building, and they just can’t do that work with us here,” said Becky Pollard, registrar.
It will remain there until January 9 when the staff will move into a new building.
“They’re giving us a new office,” said Pollard. “It will be located in the addition to the new Summersill building that they’re building. But we’ll have our own entrance and our own exit so you don’t have to go through security.”
Construction also tied up traffic downtown as construction crews closed off Anne Street to install sewer pipes for the courthouse.
