GREENVILLE N.C. (WNCT) – East Carolina University will host it’s second annual “Pledge Purple Week” this week to fight sexual violence.

It will start today and run through November 17. On the first day students can take the pledge to do their part against sexual violence, harassment and bullying.

Tomorrow the focus will shift to education about the subject with ECU’s “Speak Up” event. The event is designed to encourage conversations in the community as well as bystander training.

On Wednesday, Pirate Nation will be able to participate in a “Take Back The Night” march which will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a moment of silence for victims. The last there will be a guest speaker to talk about overcoming bullying.
