NEW BERN, N.C (WNCT) – Sunday was the final day of the Mumfest festival in New Bern.
Many road bumps like Matthew have put the highly anticipated festival on hold.
The wind and the brisk weather did not keep people away from the fun that Mumfest has to offer. Some said they spent hundreds at the local vendors.
Popcorn, fresh ice cream, ides, and live animals.
There was a little bit for everyone at this year’s Mumfest.
The event was originally scheduled in October…but hurricane Matthew came through and wreaked havoc on our state.
Originally close to 280 vendors were scheduled to appear…only about 260 made the trip.
Owner of Southside farms in Chocowinity, Shawn Harding said rescheduling was a good choice.
“I think it’s been an outstand reschedule. I told someone the weather was a lot better yesterday than it was on Saturday October 6 when we were supposed to have it. So it’s turned out ok, everything’s worked out,” said Harding.
When some vendors couldn’t make it, it opened the door for other businesses that were not originally on the schedule to make an appearance.
Event coordinators said a great turn out this year means they’ll be able to add more new things in years to come.
