Pirate Gameday: SMU 55, ECU 31- FINAL

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – East Carolina turned the ball over five times and Southern Methodist powered past the Pirates 55-31 on Saturday in Greenville.

After the Pirates knotted the game up at 17 in the second quarter, SMU went on a 38-14 run to put the game out of reach for ECU.

SMU’s Horace Richardson had two interception return touchdowns for the Mustangs.

Zay Jones leads the Pirates offensively with 12 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown.

Jones now just needs 8 catches to break the NCAA all-time receptions record held by former Pirate Justin Hardy (387).

Philip Nelson, James Summers, and Devin Anderson added rushing touchdowns for the Pirates.

Courtland Sutton led the Mustangs with 12 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
