Crash leads to death investigation after police find man shot in Roanoke Rapids

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCT) – Roanoke Rapids Police say a car crash turns into a death investigation.

It happened around 7 o’clock Saturday evening.

Investigators say officers were called the intersection of Monroe and Preston Streets for a two car accident. When officers arrived they found one person had been shot several times. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he/she died.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered the victim had been shot on the 100 block Monroe Street. After being shot, the victim tried to drive away but crashed into a parked car.

Roanoke Rapids Police say they are following leads; however. there are no suspects at this time.
