New Bern’s Mumfest to open Saturday after Matthew rescheduling

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Hurricane Matthew put New Bern’s annual Mumfest on hold, but the highly anticipated event will finally be held this weekend.

Almost all of the original vendors were able to reschedule.

Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation executive director Lynne Harakel said the biggest changes for the festival are the time change and the weather.

“It’s going to be a nice brisk fall weekend so dress warm,” said Harakel. “We will have lots of hot chocolate available downtown for you to drink this weekend to keep you warm and just come and have a great time.”

Harakel said she still expects a great turnout. Events begin at 10:30 Saturday morning.
