Onslow County holds blood drive to help with Matthew shortages

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – After Hurricane Matthew, blood shortages in our area have affected the supply available to those in need.

The Onslow County government held a blood drive to help with those shortages.

There were nearly 50 donors throughout the day.

“Blood donations are always important, but now especially because of Hurricane Matthew,” said Tammy Custy, Onslow County Social Services. “They’ve had to cancel many blood drives. We’re just trying to help get the word out there we do need blood.”
