Bertie Co. deputies make arrest in death of man found shot beside basketball court

WINDSOR, N.C. (WNCT) – An arrest has been made in a killing that took place in Windsor, the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office said.

Raqwan Freeman, 21, was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Bryan Harrell. He also faces additional charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and financial card fraud.

Deputies said Harrell’s body was found on October 4 inside of his minivan next to a basketball court on Cedar Landing Road in Windsor. An autopsy determined Harrell had been shot twice, deputies said.

Freeman is being held in the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail without bail.
