KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — Court officials in Lenoir County say a man accused in a double murder two days before Christmas 2014 has pleaded guilty.

Local media outlets report that Damion Keith Edwards of La Grange pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two counts of first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of Melody and Paul Brown. Edwards received two consecutive life sentences without the possibility parole.

Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said at the time that several items were taken from the couple’s home near Kinston. Ingram said the items were found with Edwards and his girlfriend.
