One charged, another wanted in Onslow Co. animal cruelty case

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WNCT)- An Onslow County woman is facing felony charges after officers said they found five dogs, two of which were deceased, on her property.

On October 23, Onslow County Animal Services (OCAS) responded to the 200 block of Drummer Kellum Road in Jacksonville.

Officers say they found two dogs in the back yard and three dogs in small cages. Two of the caged dogs were dead, the third was severely underfed. All animals were pit bull mixes.

On October 27, the OCAS filed charges for Centhari Thomas and Telica Upshaw. Upshaw was arrested Monday, facing felony charges of killing an animal by starvation and one misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals.
Thomas is wanted on two felony charges of killing an animal by starvation and one misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals.
