New Bern Police investigating overnight homicide

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Police are investigating an overnight homicide.

Officers with the New Bern Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 2900 block of Madison Avenue around 12:36 a.m. Monday.

They found an unresponsive man who was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, then transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he later succumbed to those injuries.  He’s been identified as 37-year-old Terence Jerome Gardner.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the New Bern Police Department at 252-633-2022. The incident isn’t believed to be a random act.
