Jacksonville cab company to offer senior citizens free Election Day rides to polls

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Yellow Cab of Jacksonville is offering all senior citizens free rides to and from the polls on Election Day.

This is the first election they’re offering the service.

The owners say they’re offering rides because many of their riders are seniors who may want to vote but can’t get to the polls.

“We feel like the senior citizens could benefit from it the most,” said David Butler, Jacksonville Yellow Cab. “Just in case they don’t have family here or don’t have someone to take them back and forth. We just want them to be able to get out and voice their opinion.”

If you’re a senior citizen, cabs will only pick you up within Jacksonville city limits between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Election Day.

To request a pick-up, call 910-353-1111.
