WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — A former Winston-Salem church youth leader has entered a guilty plea after he was accused of sexually abusing boys in the 1990s.
The Winston-Salem Journal (http://bit.ly/2e1ehMQ ) reports that 71-year-old Robert Allen Shutt pleaded guilty Tuesday to 16 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Assistant District Attorney Pansy Glanton said Shutt, who served as a youth leader for Salem Baptist Church, sexually abused three boys multiple times. Glanton says the boys were between 12 and 16 and Shutt would have each of them spend nights at his house.
Judge Brad Long consolidated the charges into six indecent liberties counts and sentenced Shutt to nine years to 15 years in prison.
The allegations surfaced in 2015, as each victim made a report to Winston-Salem police.
