Make it Monday: DIY mumkins

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – You may have carved pumpkins this weekend for a Halloween decoration, so now we’ll show you how you can make a pumpkin last well into the fall season.

In this week’s Make It Monday we’re showing you how to make mumkins.

Here’s what you’ll need:
– pumpkin
– mum
– knife
– ribbon
– hot glue gun

You can use a craft pumpkin that will last several years or if you’d prefer, you can use a real pumpkin.

Craft pumpkins come in all different colors and you can order them online or get them at a local craft store.

To start, take a knife and cut off the top of the pumpkin. We’ve found a serrated knife works best.

You’re going to put the mum right in the pumpkin, so you want to cut holes in the bottom so it can drain when watered.

To dress it up, add a bow! You can either make your own for get one for a few dollars at a local craft store.

Using your hot glue gun, put some ribbon around the pumpkin and then glue on the bow. Make sure to use a generous amount of hot glue, so it stays on tight, especially if you’re putting this outside.

To finish, take your mum out of the plastic planter and put it inside the pumpkin turned mumkin!
