ECU freshman charged in armed robbery

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – An ECU student was arrested Sunday in an armed robbery that took place at the Copper Beech apartment complex, Greenville Police said.

Derrick Bowens was charged with armed robbery after officers said he stole a small amount of cash and marijuana Wednesday. Bowens and the victim knew each other, officers said.

Greenville Police said no one was injured.

ECU confirmed Bowens is currently a freshman enrolled at the university.
