U.S. Army picks New Bern High band student to play All-American Bowl game

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – The U.S. Army recognized a local band student Friday at New Bern High School.

Senior Jamie Martin will represent the school at the All-American Bowl in Texas.

Martin will be one of 125 students in the U.S. Army All-American marching band.

“She not only is a leader out here in the marching band, but she embodies the characteristics and values of an army soldier which is leadership, loyalty, duty, respect, self of service, honor, duty, integrity and personal courage,” said Justin Arrant, U.S. Army staff sergeant. “She’s definitely shown that out here.”

Eleven students from North Carolina schools will participate in the bowl as either band members or football players.

The All-American Bowl will be played January 7.
