Deputies: Beulaville man trafficking in meth had 17 guns, explosive device

BEAULAVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A Beulaville man trafficking in meth was in possession of several high-powered rifles and a homemade explosive device, Duplin County deputies said.


James Rusk of Beulaville was arrested on a number of drug and weapons charges Thursday morning as the result of an investigation by the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, the SBI and the Mount Olive Police Department.

Deputies said they found 28.8 grams of methamphetamine, 3.4 grams of heroin, 17 guns, one of which was a sawed-off shotgun, 60 grams of marijuana, one explosive device and $471 when they searched Rusk’s home.


The deputies said they took precautions to remove any threats to the neighborhood when they made the arrest.

Rusk is being held in the Duplin County Jail in lieu of $189,000 bail.
