Trump rally draws thousands to Kinston

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – For the second day in a row, Kinston hosts a major name in Presidential politics. Former President Bill Clinton made a surprise stop in downtown Kinston Tuesday, stumping for his wife Hillary. On Wednesday it was GOP nominee Donald Trump campaigning in Lenoir County.

“Please welcome the next President of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” boomed from the loudspeaker in what was a rock star like welcome for Trump at the Kinston Regional Jetport. The Republican Presidential candidate walked off of his 757 and straight to the stage to address an estimated crowd of 3,100 supporters.

“This is a great, great state. And we’re going to make it even better. We’re bringing back your jobs,” said Mr. Trump.

Much of Trump’s speech focused on the Affordable Care act, also know as “Obamacare.” Mr. Trump told the crow expected premium hikes will hurt North Carolinians.  Trump added, “And this year they’re going to go up at a record number. It is catastrophic. More that 250,000 people in North Carolina are losing their health plans next year. 95 of the state’s 100 counties will only have one insurance company to buy from. Good luck with that negotiation, folks.”

As he has throughout his campaign, Trump touched on immigration. He says during his Presidency, he’ll suspend immigration from “terror-prone” regions from around the world.

Towards the end of the speech, Trump’s focus turned to his Democratic counterpart, Hillary Clinton. “Everything Hillary Rodham Clinton touches she kind of screws up. Oh that’s wonderful, that makes us feel good, right? To all Americans I say, it is time for new leadership. Let’s get the Clinton’s out of our lives,” Trump said to loud cheers from the crowd.

Donald Trump’s campaign stop in Kinston was his third in eastern North Carolina over the past two months. He also held rallies in Kenansville and Greenville in September.
