N.C. Maritime Museum looks to revamp area with Harborside Park project

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) – The North Carolina Maritime Museum is moving forward with its Harborside Park project, which will be located off Front Street.

The museum hopes to revamp the area with a new deck space, public restrooms and a boating dock.

“This is one of the last public spaces that’s right here in Beaufort on the waterfront,” said Randy Mann, project director. “Saving it is perfect for the museum; because we can use it for education and Rachel Carson, who we work with too, will be able to use it as a launching point for the preserve behind us.”

Almost $250,000 is still needed to complete the project.

If you would like to make a donation from $25 to $1,000 you can do so on their website, or call the museum at 252-728-7317 ext. 22. A donor board will be located at the park.
